SLOCA has teamed up with the Cancer Support Community of St. Louis to put on a free, daylong Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday, September 15, at The Heights, Richmond Heights’ community center.
The day will be tailored to women who have received a diagnosis of ovarian cancer, their loved ones and medical professionals. Admission will be free.
St. Louis area oncologists and mental health experts will discuss many aspects of ovarian cancer treatment and research and issues related to survival.
Cancer survivor Jonna Tamases will present an emotionally riveting, outrageously funny chronicle of her journey with Hodgkin’s Disease, large-cell lymphoma and breast cancer. This stage presentation, “Jonna’s Body, Please Hold,” was nominated for two Los Angeles Ovation Awards: Best World Premiere Play and Best Lead Actress, and it continues to tour around the U.S.
Breakfast will be provided, courtesy of Whole Foods, and lunch will also be served.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Heights is located at 8001 Dale Avenue in Richmond Heights.
You can register for the awareness day now at the website of Cancer Support Community.
